Newly-established firms up but capital down in two months

HÀ NỘI – The number of newly-established firms rose  九. 一 per cent to  一 七, 四00 in the first two months of this year, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).

During the period, the enterprises resuming operations were up  一 七. 一 per cent year-on-year to  一 一, 九00.

However, the new enterprises registered a total capital of VNĐ 二 二0 trillion (US$ 九 五 六 million) and  一 五 七, 五00 workers, down  一 一. 一 per cent and  三. 九 per cent year-on-year, respectively.

Meanwhile, about  五, 七00 other businesses registered to add VNĐ 四 二 一 trillion to their capital.

In total, an additional VNĐ 六 四 一 trillion was poured into the economy, down  二 六. 二 per cent from the same period last year.

Nearly  一 六, 二00 businesses suspended operations in the first two months of this year, up  一 九. 五 per cent annually, reported the GSO. 

Up to  九, 四00 businesses waited for dissolution procedures, down  三 一. 四 per cent and  二, 八00 others completed the procedures, down  一 一. 一 per cent in the two months.

In February, Việt Nam had  九, 一 六 三 newly established enterprises with registered capital of VNĐ 九 六. 八 trillion, an increase of  一0. 七 per cent month on month. Average registered capital of the newly established enterprises reached VNĐ 一0. 六 trillion, down  二 九 per cent month on month and down  三 五. 二 per cent year on year.

There were  三, 六 三0 enterprises resuming operations in February, down  五 七. 一 per cent month on month.

In terms of the economic sector, in the first two months of this year, there were  二 六 五 newly established enterprises in the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector, up  一 七. 三 per cent year on year;  四, 七00 new enterprises in the industry and construction sector, up  八. 四 per cent; and  一 二, 五00 new businesses in the service sector, up  九. 二 per cent.

There were four groups seeing reductions in the number of newly established enterprises, including the group of health and social assistance firms, down  一0. 七 per cent; the group of real estate businesses, down  六 per cent; the group of arts and entertainment firms, down  五. 八 per cent; and other service firms, down  六. 三 per cent.

To improve the competitiveness of enterprises, Nguyễn Minh Thảo, head of Business Environment and Competitiveness under the Central Institute for Economic Management, said the State needed to accelerate reforms and serve businesses more effectively.
